But often the manufacturing, use and disposal of this equipment releases hazardous substances such as lead (Pb) which cause environmental and health problems, the effects of which are not immediate but long-lasting.

Many heavy metals are often difficult to recycle because of cost and labour-intensive tracing. Hence they continue to stay in their disposal site, for centuries. Indiscriminate disposal leads to leeching of these metals in water bodies and ultimately ends up in plants and animals.

To restrict the use of such hazardous substances in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment, European laws introduced directives and implemented it in the year 2004 which is known as RoHS or Restriction of Hazardous Substances. These prohibit the use of ten hazardous substances in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment which includes lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and the different phthalates – (DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP).

The restrictions are significant since these substances are not only dangerous to human lives with direct or indirect contact during handling, but the hazardous substances also pollute the environment, they contaminate the air we breathe, pollute landfills and even the potable drinking water.

Post the checks and conformity to all the parameters that suffice to the needs of the directives, RoHS certification is conferred with. HDB3w, 3 Series Miniature Circuit Breakers

The range of MCBs used to protect the electrical circuits from short circuit and overload faults. Mainly used in commercial and residential buildings, they are available in a range of 1 – 125 Amp AC & DC. HDB3wLE, 3 Series RCBO

These are designed to protect against earth leakage, short circuit as well as overload faults of electrical circuits. The residual current operated circuit breaker with overload protection comes with anti-arc spray and quicker break for greater safety.

HDB9LE, 9 series RCBOs

HDG3, 3 Series Switch Disconnectors

They are used to switch off and switch on the power system. Suitable for industrial applications, the disconnectors come in a range of 20A to 125A. The robust equipment has a high mechanical and electrical durability of 8500 cycles and 3000 operations respectively.

HDG9, 9 Series Switch Disconnectors

An advanced version of disconnectors with a rated current capacity up to 125 Amps and is available in all four poles. The high-performance switchgear finds its application in industrial arenas.

HDB3VR, 3 Series RCCBs

They are made to protect against earth leakage in an electrical circuit. Suited for A and AC type applications, the input current range is between 10Amp to 100Amp and the sensitivity ranges from 10mA to 300mA.
