Benefits of Withdrawal Switchgear System
Industrial and commercial spaces demand seamless electrical operations. Catering to electrical power needs of such dynamic spaces and projects requires reliable electrical infrastructure. Conventionally electrical feeder pillars or panels are designed with specific load requirements with only few spares to meet an additional need. Any additional requirement often leads to initiation of the entire design assembly supply and commissioning processes of an electrical panel. A withdrawable switchgear system simplifies switching of MV components. Before withdrawable switchgear systems were developed and became popular, only fixed solutions were available. Individual components were a permanent fixture and could not be removed or changed for maintenance purposes. A disconnecting switch was used to isolate the device under maintenance from the energized system when required. While this approach is still used where the requirement for switching is not frequent, other set ups require flexibility for seamless operations. This flexibility is facilitated by a Withdrawal Switchgear System.
Withdrawable Type MV Switchgear System allows removal of individual parts such as the circuit breaker from the main enclosure without impacting the function of the rest of the switchboard— thus providing operational flexibility and substantial cost-saving.
Himel offers quality assured and durable components for withdrawal type Motor Control Centre or the MCC Electrical Panel—from incomer being 1600 Amp 4P Air Circuit Breaker to Molded Case Circuit Breakers of different ratings to suit a diverse range of motor ratings. Because of compact size of Himel components, the panel built is extremely compact with aesthetically appealing design.
Himel products used in Withdrawal Type Electrical Feeder Pillar
HDW3 Air Circuit Breakers
HDW3 is a 3 series comprehensive range of Air Circuit Breakers from Himel specifically designed to find its applicability in industries, mines, substations, modern high-rise complexes, and other power distribution systems.
Here, the ACB used has an input current rating of 1600 Amp with an Intelligent Controller iTR326A and a few add on accessories which includes motor operating mechanism—shunt, undervoltage and Internal closing coils. Its operation is protected with door frame and phase partition and has an indicator with auxiliary and alarm contact. The rated breaking capacity Icu of the breaker is 50kA and the short circuit breaking capacity Ics is 42kA. Service life of HDW3 1600 with iTR326A is around 25000 mechanical operation and 6000 electrical operations. Himel ACB allows staggering tripping time with arc extinguishing of less than equal to 25ms and closing time being less than equal to 70ms. Additionally, the intelligent controller is equipped with overload protection with long time delay, short circuit protection with short time delay, short circuit instantaneous protection and ground fault protection aiding in an extremely safe operation.
HDC3 AC Contactors
HDC3 AC Contactors are designed for motor control applications up to 630Amps. These contactors can be combined with thermal overload relays to form magnetic motor starters up to 630 Amp. AC contactors come with numerous add-on accessories such as the mechanical interlock modules and the auxiliary contacts.
HDM3 Molded Case Circuit Breakers
Himel offers HDM3 series of Molded Case Circuit Breakers with thermal magnetic trip unit, ensuring line and motor protection, up to 1600 Amp. The double check cover design enables quick and hassle-free installation and removal. Its patented design is suitable to operate in a wide range of temperature variations from -40 degree C to 70-degree C.
Application Reference for Himel HDM3 in a Withdrawal Type Electrical Feeder Pillar
The electrical panel installation using Himel products features four outgoing MCCBs, suitable for motor rating of 30kW, 40kW, 55kW and 175kW respectively. Each is a star delta feeder with rotary handle mechanism, MCCB status signal and both the rated and short circuit breaking capacity being 50kA. These circuit breakers are equipped with thermomagnetic release, mainly for the cable protection, overload thermal protection highlighting the inverse time limit curve and the short circuit magnetic protection through a magnetic trip device. They are equipped with a circuit breaker interlock for an added safety protection.
